It's the Small Gestures that Count
May 2, 2017 @ 11:10 AM by: Richard Steinecke

It was such a beautiful spring day that I decided to walk to visit my mom. I was delighted to see a community member on his way to see the blossoms in High Park. I always feel closer to the community when I see them while walking in the neighbourhood. Walking faster now I heard a voice call my name. It was another community member who was obviously glad to see me outside of Oasis. We chatted. He offered me a plump, juicy tangerine. I was hesitant to take it since he has so little. But he insisted, pointing to the remains of a few he had already eaten. That small gesture meant more to me than many expensive gifts I have received.
