I am amazed at how people who visit Oasis want to contribute. Recently a member of our Board of Directors attended the food bank, saw that we were short of certain hygiene products, and arrived with a huge donation of them the next week. Over the last two weeks another community member brought in two heavy loads of books for our book exchange. Also, this past week a regular volunteer noticed we were low on sugar but forgot to remind us to get more, so she brought in two big bags of it. But this week I was stunned as one of community members, who just recently began to help us wash dishes, brought us a potato masher because she noticed we needed one. These small contributions have a big impact. It means that our food bank and community dinner are not programs we provide; they are an activity we share in with our community.
