I am going to be a grandfather soon. I had a taste of what it might be like recently. One of our summer students is, like me, an introvert. Over the past two years I saw him grow into a leader with his peers and some of our other volunteers. Recently he was asked to lead the prayer in front of the entire congregation at our church for the deliverance of the vulnerable (especially children and some women) from slavery and exploitation around the world (as part of an International Justice Mission event). He prayed first to model how to do it for some of our youth who went afterwards. I imagined that is how a grandfather feels when they observed with fondness the development of a loved one. I was very proud despite the fact that I had very little to do with the matter.
