I have written previously about a community member who had grown from a previous position of hostility to certain groups to genuinely trying to understand Jesus’ message of love and acceptance. Recently he came to me in physical pain. I could tell from his eyes that the pain was exhausting and was troubling him. He asked me to pray for him. We went to a side room and had a good conversation and a long prayer time. Even though we had different, almost polar opposite, views about our “shared” faith, we still had the ability to comfort each other in prayer. Love does not have to mean that you agree; you just have to care.
