Our cooks have a choice. They can use the stove or the oven, but not both. Everything works on our new stove but the wiring in the building is so old that the breaker is thrown if you put everything on at once. Our older stove has broken wiring to the elements so, for that one, they can only use the oven. We are so used to it that we don’t think twice. But our guest volunteers cannot understand how we can operate this way. Rewiring the kitchen is beyond both our talents and our budget. So we bought some huge crock pots (on sale) and they work wonderfully to ensure that we have enough food for our Tuesday night dinner. We make do with a smile.
