Oasis can whipsaw you. One moment you are on cloud nine and the next you are struggling. That happened a little while ago. Picture this: with one hand you are putting up pink streamers for a long-anticipated party while with the other hand you are making a precautionary call to the police to report a threat of violence. That was us. For the most part the day was great. We had our contact person from the Daily Bread Food Bank visiting who was saying nice things about us. We were celebrating a milestone birthday of a beloved volunteer. We had a record number of smiling and happy volunteers ready to help, including some new ones. Yet, at the same time, we were trying to help a community member who was clearly upset and making threats against a member of our community for something that had occurred elsewhere. Happily most of the people, including volunteers, were not aware of the issue. Fortunately the human mind tends to remember the good and forgets the unpleasant.
