It is such a relief when the food room is full on a Wednesday morning. We were stocked to the rafters. More was piled in our Director’s office. Good thing, since we had a big crowd again today. But we had few beans and even less tuna. We made up for it with extra soup, crackers and snacks, not to mention extra onions and potatoes. Our community was, for the most part, pleased with their bounty. But missing those two staple items still left a small cavity. Not to get too philosophical about it, but life is a bit like that. Missing one key item (e.g., a family member, a friend, a full-time job, etc.) leaves a gap. We can substitute other things for it and still be content. But the void remains. And that is true for every member of the broader Oasis community, not just those who use our food bank.
