We were looking at the parable of the lost coin. I had studied it many times in the past and heard many sermons on it. I thought I knew what it meant. The woman was God and we were the lost coin. But in our group study, one of our community members said there was another approach one could take to the story. We could view ourselves as the woman frantically searching the house and God could be the lost treasure that we were seeking. The rejoicing at the end of the parable could be our joy when we found the prize. My settled understanding was perhaps not the only way of looking at things. This incident was just one more example of our learning from the entire community and how at Oasis we are all givers and we are all receivers.
