How many things do we do in our lives where we would feel comfortable bringing our mother? That is a pretty good test to apply to our choices. Yesterday I brought my mom to the special Oasis event “Be a Food Bank Client for a Morning”. When I asked her about it in the evening she seemed amazed at what Oasis does. For someone who spends most of her time in her room, it was quite an outing. Of course, I had been telling her about Oasis for years, but seeing is knowing. She had a front row seat as people went through the food line. She could not hear much of what was going on during the demonstrations or some of our activities, but other people looked interested. And she particularly appreciated those nice young men who helped her up and down the stairs.
