Most groups of people develop their own art forms that reflect, amaze and inspire its members. When Christianity was dominant in a culture, much of the greatest art of the times (e.g., music, writing and painting) reflected Christian themes. Today very little Canadian mainstream art touches on the Christian experience. However, small groups of Christians continue to develop and maintain wonderful art forms. At our small group Bible study this past week we had a prayer time. A community member from the Caribbean prayed poetically, using language that only those raised with the King James version of the Bible would know, praising God in majestic terms that evoked several Biblical passages. I was privileged to hear a uniquely Christian art form that only a few can still do with beauty.
