Usually I am running around in the kitchen cleaning up after the Tuesday community dinner. This week there were actually a lot of people helping there so I got a chance to see what was happening in the eating area. Almost everyone was doing something. As far as I could see, no one actually walked out. Everyone at least brought their own dishes to the kitchen, and usually a few extra serving bowls as well. Many, many people cleaned off the tables, dismantled them, set up the chairs and tables for the Food Bank the next morning and looked to see what else they could do. There is, in fact, a huge participation rate by our community members. That is amazing as it is often assumed that our community members do not give back. That is just not true when given a chance.
