Make a Difference in Our Community

Our programs wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of volunteers who give their time, energy, and talents to serve the community. Many of our volunteers live in the neighbourhood and are also participants in our programs, creating a unique cycle of giving and receiving. Everyone at Oasis is a Community Member. Those who contribute to making Oasis’s programs possible, through either their time commitment, or donation, are our Community Champions…

There are many ways to get involved, including:

  • Food Bank

    • Unloading food deliveries and food bank set up

      (Tuesdays from 9:00 to 12:00). *ACTIVELY RECRUITING*

    • Food bank setup and distribution

      (Tuesdays from 2:45 to 6:00 and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 1:00).

  • Cleanup Crew

    • Clean up after food bank on Wednesdays 11:45am-1:30/2pm

      • Hot Meal Provided afterwards as a Thank You. *ACTIVELY RECRUITING*

    • General Cleaning and organizing our space. *ACTIVELY RECRUITING*

  • Community Events
    Assisting with special events, fundraising and seasonal programs.

  • Spanish Speaking Seniors Programming
    Supporting activities, programs and engagement.

  • Other Special Skills
    Offering unique skills that benefit the community, from administrative support to teaching workshops. Let us know how you want to help!

Steps to Sign-up:

  1. Complete required orientation (to be linked here soon)

  2. Fill out Volunteer Interest Form →

  3. Short 15 minute informal interview

  4. Sign documents

Depending on the role, new volunteers may shadow for a week or two before committing. Training is provided, and most positions do not require a police check.

Note: Oasis is unable to provide TTC tokens for volunteers.

People volunteer at Oasis for many reasons—to give back, meet new people, gain experience, practice English, or fulfill required volunteer hours. But the greatest reward is the relationships built along the way.
